The Centre

The Me2u Centre provides an enjoyable, bright and homely centre, which caters for the individual needs of the clients and their carers.

Based in the heart of Kirkby, Knowsley, the Me2u Centre is a place where people living with dementia can feel at home in a safe and stimulating environment. Offering opportunities for social prescribing, we’re a community-based, person-centred service.

We provide respite care and companionship for just an hour or two or throughout the day, as required. Visitors to our centre will receive breakfast and lunch as well as drinks and snacks.

There is an onsite hairdresser or barber, a cinema room, private consultation rooms for health visitors and a wet room. We also offer a wide range of activities including gardening and flower arranging, art and craft, board games and singalongs.

Carers can take advantage of our holistic therapy sessions and carer support groups as well as expert advice on dementia care and diagnoses. In addition, we’re CQC-registered to provide domiciliary care to those above and below 65 years.

Location

The Me2u Centre is based in the heart of Kirkby, Knowsley. It is located within a 5-10 minute walk from Kirkby train station and is within walking distance of the town centre. The centre is easily accessible from Liverpool and the surrounding areas.

Activities

Our aim is to offer a stimulating and positive environment for attendees. This is achieved through our excellent provision of activities, including the following:

activities and exercise programmes;
group discussions such as reminiscing activities;
gardening and flower arranging;
arts and crafts sessions;
a range of board games;
bingo;
sing-alongs;
themed days;
cinema room.

The Cost

A standard six-hour day will cost £75 per day (inclusive of transport and meals) and a half day costs £45.
Breakfast and lunch are included in the daily cost. Evening meals can be prepared to take home or have at the centre for £4.
Shower facilities are available for community residents and carers to access at a cost of £16 per usage.

Never in my wildest dreams did I think our family would have gone through these last 4 years and have the peace of mind we have today. The me 2 you centre has given our family something we never thought existed from a team that are not family. My sister would not be able to stay at home if it wasn’t for the specialist individual care that the me 2 you centre staff give which changes daily when a young family member has dimentia . Would like to say what an amazing thing this is opening a centre. As a dementia carer for 8 years this would have been a god send to me and my family. I have known Rosie professionally for 9 years, she was my Dad’s mental health nurse and I would not have got through that time without her, she was there for me and my family 24/7. I have rang her at bad times and nothing was too much trouble she is so caring, lovely and supportive not only to the patient but to their family’s too. We could not have coped without Rosie.

This is going to be a Day Centre like no other because it is going to be run by people who truly care about those living with dementia, which includes their families. They care so much that they are willing to give up their jobs as full time nurses/social workers etc. and are eager to being this new Day Centre. Your loved one won’t just be left to sit in a chair until you return. They will be loved and cared for and all their needs will be met. They will have fun, laugh, sing and dance if they are able to.
